Boys from the County Hell excerpt

Shane focused and cleared his mind. They had escaped from the evil Paul McCartney and the bloodthirsty son of god; Johnny fucking Cash and they were sitting in an old pub in New York City and beside them, as he tried to think of the song he had to sing, the boys in the NYPD choir were singing Galway Bay and the bells were ringing out for judgment day.

Parallel Writing Project: news update

Parallel writing Project: writing 2 novels simultaneously
Commence: May 2013

Novel 1 - Secret Project aimed to sell to agents and publishers for 18 months.

Novel 2- Dark Side of the Moon - a short story (40K words) cover of the album by Pink Floyd.

**Live Writing Experiece**

Dark Side of the Moon tells the story of Theodore the disenfranchised rabbit; working tirelessly on the moon to dig a hole from one side to the other to let the sun through, playing in a mundane rock band and having rampant sex; but without much zest. Something has to give.

Stalker's Lens

STALKER LENS APRIL 26 2013
BedroomWindow

So I have had an idea and there is no reason why it couldn't function.

I intend to use jazz principles to my writing for my next challenge, using what jazz drummer Marco Minnemann describes as 'Interdependence'

In his concept, he can allow his limbs to function independently working on unique time signatures, more or less; how he puts it, no different than walking and talking at the same time.

I used his instructional video as inspiration during Utopian Circus writing. It helped me to focus on the story whilst also running my business, developing a new psychology for language teaching and delivering my classes and being a father to my daughter, a husband to my then pregnant wife and deadweight at the end of my dogs' leashes & of course the emotional fool for my 4 cats and full time groomer of my Persian Huxley.

I utilised Minnemann's concept of lateralising the mind and I applied a focus principle which Marcos uses in A Rising Fall so that my life was (and still is today), 100% scheduled and divided into one hour blocks where I could apply 100% focus and emotional deliverance to whatever I might be doing. The result in this meant my emotional reserves didn't interfere with each other, that i could attain a complete level of disarray for the writing periods whilst being manic and mildly yet effectively delusional for my students, all business like and dull for business, passionate and considerate with my wife and friggin insane with my girl.

I am not here to sell the concept of blocking or scheduling, I am though just giving some background on the next challenge. As I mentioned in a previous rant, the next project will be a full 90k word piece that intend to use to sell to agents and publishers.

I did though enjoy the strangeness of this Live Writing Experience, releasing every chapter as I write and being completely exposed and vulnerable to you as you read along. It was emotionally challenging in the first few days but i pushed through that and now am entering the last two chapters before an official digital and paperback release.

For the next challenge I will write two novels at the same time and the concurrent novel will also be a Live Writing Experience. The process will be slower as I am teaching a lot more now to save to move to the countryside and that limited time will now be divided between 2 mindsets.

This will be a complete head fuck.

The next Stalker Story will be based on 3 old songs by Bjork; those being, Human Behaviour, Army of Me and Oh so Quiet. The story will be about a tiny mouse which accidentally explodes distant galaxies every time she falls in love.

And the other project.... is a secret.

Take Risk and Take Care,

C. Sean McGee

I saw Steven wilson and band on their last tour for Grace for Drowning. Actally this show was what got me out of my decade of artistic procrastination and made me start writing A Rising Fall and every book since. I stated writing the day after the show. If you don't know his work, please watch, listen and be affected. He is an amazing songwriter with an incredible band of superlative musicians.

This is an amazing live rendition of The Watchmaker, from his latest masterpiece; The Raven that Refused to Sing (and other short stories)

New Project

So last night my brain was running through the loose story for my next project.

As i mentioned, it will be sold to agents for 12 months, giving plenty of time for frustration to build enough for me to release it for free. My wife and daughter have given me an 18 month deadline knnowing i get excited and release things earlier than intended. So i set my bar for 18 months, which means in 12 it will be released with the Free Art Collection.

The story will be more delicate than my last peices; though even as i say that i feel a warm tingle in th eback of my neck which is perversion and honesty saying 'just tell it as you see it not how others would expect it to be told'.

This story though will be delve into a theme that has become the flag for our family recebntly which is natural birth, home birth and the effect of digital industrialisation, this being the sudden inexplicable rise of unwanted C -Sectoin births worldwide and more notably here in Sao Paulo, the leader in the world with over 97% births via C-Section in private hospitals and 70% in public hospitals and most of these, wunwarrarnted, unsolicited and amount to corporal rape.

This will be the fundamental theme running thorugh my next book and will also look at one of my greatest fears as a father or two; is my older child were to accidentally suffcoate my infant son in her revel and game. This book will look at a family falling apart after such and incident and a father pulling at the threads of unconditional love with his daughter as they struggle alone to deal with what happened.

I will though as i write this book, be posting slight teasers thorughout the writing process. HOnestly i hope agents don't bite so i can just give it away again.

News

The Boy from the County Hell is coming along at its own pace. I really expected this to be a quick 10,000 word pieve like Christine or HIFOA but we are already nearing 21,000 words and nearing I guess 70% of the story. I am currently writing the scene for Boat Train and will commence London Calling as the lead in to the final chapters When the Man Comes Around and Summer in Siam.

I know that for some of you this makes no sense bu the idea of this book is to link several songs from The Pogues, the Clash, Nick Cave and Johnny Cash. Chapter 5 which went live yesterday was a cover of the song Red Right Hand by Nick Cave; a very dark and sexy song, irnoically written and inspired by Sao Paulo as most of my work is, or at least the seedier perspective of my work.

So BFCH should come in around 30,000 words and I expect 2 weeks maximum until it is launched digitally. There have been some major changes to the first few chapters since going live, so the end read will be much diiferent to the live perspective.

This will though be my last Free Art ebook for a few months at least.
I intend to do a secret project that has been lingering in my mind for some months lately, a grand fear that burdens in the back of my mind. I intend to try  and sell this novel to agents once more and take to the feather dance. I will though; once i begin shopping this project, commence or at leqast prepare to commence iCannibal and finish the CITY Trilogy once and for all.

I feel terrible for not being able to feed you more free art. It's irresponsible. But I have to do this, to try and get a publisher and try and make some money out of writing.

Chapter 3 is Live - LoungeWindow - The Boy from the County Hell

Chapter 3 is now live at LoungeWindow

As I mentioned, this live writing experience is an odd experience and I left my slump this morning when writing the Red Right Hand chapter which will be live in ocming days. I found my rhythm again and disposed of the misery stain that shrouded my conscious mind the past day or two.

I have also made some story adjustments which you will see in the final completed novel. This is the other unique part of stalking live is that when you read the final piece, it should and will have a far greater effect, a more complete feel and the strory will have changed somewhat, as in the first chapter; it has.

Fire Head

I normally go into a mild to severe depression with the release of every book. I use the word despression beacuse I can't think of suitable substantive that will suffice. I don't get sad to say as much as it feels like I am coming down off a drug or can feel one eerily coming on and the thoughts of a rope around my neck seem consoling. It's unfortunate but it's how i feel. What's more unfortunate is this little endeavour to release a book chapter by chapter so that every day I have these feelings and engross myself in these thoughts and I hate myself now more than I ever have and all of teh intensities of writing a story are so much more peverse now that it is live and living as i write it. There is no hiding in any of this and i hope i come through it ok, that I can continue this.

LoungeWindow - The Boy from County Hell - Chapter One Uploaded

I have decided to make this book more interactive (based on the fact that i have no patience).

The LoungeWindow will now serve a more practical and unqiue purpose in that I will be uploading chapter by chapter of my new book The Boy from the County Hell (or how Shane stopped the apocalypse) as I write it.

This is only for Stalkers and will only be accessed through the LoungeWindow.

As such I have removed the previous post of Chapter Zero from the BedroomWindow

When the book is finsihed, like most of my work, I imagine there will be one or two mild adjustments. There are never many. I don't loike to recount my work. A thing said is a thing said. An apology doesn't make it undone. I know every writer loves this appraoch. To refine something over and over and over until it is devoid of original intent. I will, when this creative splurge wanes, go back and re-edit the books to fix some spelling here or there but this has never been any great concern of mine. A lot fo beautiful teethed humans have very little interest etched upon their tongues and thus I justify my laziness and lack of concentration by defining it as charm.

but that said, the version of BFCH as you follow on LoungeWindow may be different in the print version. I did this on A Rising Fall; going back to make several large changes but havent on any peice since and really i don't imagine on any to come. I write only what i see and imagine. If it's wrong in any way, then its because i scribed not what i saw and only what i expected others wanted to see.

This thing might be good or it might be not. But it seems more contextual to have you reading with me through every chapter than to have these tiny snippets here or there that in some cases are what they are; out of context.

So with that in mind, i give you CHAPTER ONE

The Rock Book Volume 1 - Update

As i mentioned maybe yesterday, it's hard to pick out the past from the further past. Anyway, after this story i intend to focus on a series of short stories to be assembled as a collection of cover stories called The Rock Book; how many series, that I do not know but I enjoy the pacing and focus of short stories.

I mentioned in a previous post that I would be working with a Dutch band called Grandpa Death Experience. This will be the first of the series called Jesus Lyte. You can see the original cut of the song below. As I am aware they are in the studio at the moment and will cut another version to be packaged with the Free Art digital release. Nice guys. Reminds me of a smoky Leonard Cohen.

The first few stories for Rock Book Vol 1 will be (up to this moment)

THE ROCK BOOK VOLUME 1

Grandpa Death Experience - Jesus Lite
Nine Inch Nails - We're in this Together Now
Bjork - Oh so Quiet
Johnny Cash - The Beast in Me
The Tea Party - Sister Awake
Porcupine Tree- Trains
Dead Can Dance - American Dreaming

I think I am working towards one day writing the cover story to Dark Side of the Moon. We'll see.

“Everyone keeps harpin about dis feckin song. What da fuck happened last night?”
“Dat’s not important now Shane. Ya have to remember dat song. Ya can’t forget it and tell someone, ya have to tell someone. Yer in danger lad. Everyone ya know. Da fate o da world; it’s in yer feckin hands. God help us all” said The Priest, hardly believing this truth any more than the toothless punk before him.
“Are you sound fadder? Yer soundin a bit like meself” said Shane.
“Listen to me. It’s important dat you remember dis. Ta save us all, ta save the world; you must not touch a single drink. And the junk too, ya keep da needle far from yer veins, ya hear me lad. Da fate o da world is in yer hands.”
“Jaysus. Is dat yer approach now? What are ya, Professor Xavier? Ya got a crack house full a super heroes back dere?”

And then for the labour of love, it become the factory of fallacious folly with the entire avenue; stretching from here to there, becoming the parade of dealers and junkies, the drunks, the pimps and whores and it looked like a marvelous production line of filth and abhorrence with the dimly lit street being the conveyor that carried the box like cars along at crawling speed, their windows down, their drivers all looking with scented perversion at the pouting red lips, the licking tongues, the lifting skirts, the wiggling bums and stopping, only when; from the cheapest and dirtiest of the whores, they found what might just be the cleanest one.

The Boy from the County Hell excerpt 12

“Ya look busy” Shane said, seeing scores of addled men, women and dogs walking in circles chasing an air of hope, their withered souls, or that thing they forgot.
“I do like a challenge. Tis da lord who said, if you build it, dey will come” said The Priest.
“I believe dat was Field of Dreams but da metaphor, it’s still grand.”
“Honestly, I tink it would be easier to build around a playground. Seriously. Dese lads, dere’s no hope. And da one’s dat do open deir eyes, when dey do, dey look mad as fuck. Sure if dey found Jesus’ ashes I’m sure he’d be straight in deir pipes. Start young. Get em when dey can’t tink for demselves. Dat’s de key” said The Priest.
“Dere is a great deal of wrong in what ya just said fadder and I know ya mean well. Yer not using dat in yer mass are ya? I’d leave out da whole schoolyard ting. Could be taken out a context ya know?” said Shane.

Stalker News

I will be working with a greta musician for my next project following The Boy from the County Hell.

I worked with this gentleman 10 years ago when I was just a pup in an extreme metal band back in Perth, Australia. What happened to that band will become a story in its own right down the line. Deal with one itch at a time.

Anyway, as a part of what wioll become the Rock Book compilations, I will be woorking with rock/metal producer legend Ron Goudie with his band of misfits from Amsterdam; Grandpa Death Experience.

They are in the studio writing as we speak and he is re-recording a track i requested so that I can work with it to create a short story; one of many for the Rock Book compilation; a novel of short stories that cover a host of my favourite songs from a host of genres.

Where some artists are kind (as in the case of Ron and GDE), I will be packaging the covered track with the ebook files. I have still to see if its possible to layer a music track inside an ebook using Sigil. If anyone knows how and can guide me, I'd be very appreciative.

That's it for now. My brain has been electric with ideas and new epiphanies for BFCH. This story will be fantastic. A little less sombering than Coffee and Sugar.

The Boy from the County Hell excerpt 11

He pulled his yellow briefs from their nest in the crack of his bum and farted once or twice as he hobbled out of the bedroom and stumbled towards the kitchen, passing his lovely Teresa sprawled unconscious on the dining table; her knickers around her ankles, a needle dangling like a peacock’s feather from her sinking vein and a length of kettle cord, wrapped around her upper arm.

The Boy from the County Hell excerpt 10

“And what is da lord’s music den?” asked Shane.
“Bono. He has the world on his shoulders” said The Barman.
“Yeah, by sticking his head up its fucking arse. Jaysus. Sure I hope dat twat lives for a fuckin hundred centuries. I hope he never dies. God help us when he does and you all make a fuckin saint out of him. Ya do realize dat he is to music what Father Brendan Smyth was to da fuckin church” said Shane.
“Watch your mouth boy. Bono is a good man. You look at the good he does in Africa. The pace is shining because of him. They’re celebrating Easter because of him. And what have you done? Inspired a nation of youth to drink till they’re green, piss in their pants and wake up stoned somewhere that they can’t remember for the life of them how they even got there”
“I’m savin da fuckin world”
“By doing what? Shouting, cursing, shaming your mother?”
“Would you give us one pint of the black stuff?” asked Shane.
“No” said The Barman.
“Well you got all dat residue and spill in the tray down da bottom. Can I drink dat? I got a mean fuckin tirst” said Shane.
“Jaysus. Have you got no feckin shame?” said The Barman.
“Gave it all to mammy apparently” said Shane.

The Boy from the County Hell excerpt 9

The Landlord fell back off his stool and onto the floor and Shane jumped on top of him with the broken glass in his hand and he stabbed and he struck and he slashed and he cut; digging the glass into The Landlord’s face, ripping his lips in half, tearing open his nose and stabbing at his eyes until part of one of them went flying over his shoulder and rested against an old man’s foot as in his mind, the old man imagined Mary; with the massive knockers, doing star jumps on the spot.

The Boy from the County Hell excerpt 8

“I’ll ave a pint” said Shane to The Barman.
“Have you any money?” said the barman.
“Oh come on, one drink, I’ve had a right fuck of a day. C’mon, just one pint."
“If you had a penny for every time you asked me that, I’d probably serve you by the end of the day."
“You won’t give me one free pint?”
“Like fuck I will."
“Well then can you lend me ten pounds?”
“What? Are you fuckin mad?”
“C'mon, I’ll buy ya a drink."
“Feck off ya edjit."
“Bollocks” said Shane, sitting down by himself on a rickety stool and flipping a coaster between his fingers; trying to spin it on its end and managing to lose himself in its every turn, biding his time before the inevitable passing of hands over numbers and the shaking of hands over tables.

Behind Seamus, a small girl was shaking, whimpering and wheezing. She was clinging to her father’s broad arm with one hand and catching phlegm with the other. Beside her, Seamus’ wife did much the same. Clinging to her husband’s cradle with one hand whilst gently rubbing the middle of her daughter’s back with the other, trying to calm her down and help clear her diseased lungs.

The Boy from the County Hell excerpt 5

Shane hated him. He was a miserable fat bastard with a penny earned for every missing hair on his head. And he wore the same clothes every day; probably never even took them off. He wouldn’t want to waste the comfort he had saved up on a cold draft. And he sure as hell didn’t wash them or himself for that matter. He stank like an old urinal cake; a mix of cheap minty cologne and warm piss and larger. And it could have been because he was a lazy fat cunt, sleeping in the same shite day after day or maybe it was just the pong from the sweat of a miser.

News

I have officially pulled my books from Free-ebooks.net website

I will not be posting on this site for any of my further works and will not be hosting any previous works there.

I think this current book might be longer than i had imagined. The story is developing aorund a wonderful narrative and i think Shane MacGowan will make an incredible anti-hero. I am really excited about this piece and being able to live it in my mind and write it down for you to travel with me.

Every now and then i question what i am doing. i get this fire in my head and it weighs so much. I don't know if i'm doing the right thing but i know i'm not doing the wrong thing. Maybe that's enough.

I want to leave this day on a less sombre note. My cats are learning to pee and poo in my toilet and that's neat; all except Huxley my scruffy little Persian.

The Boy from the County Hell excerpt 3

Outside his window, the rain was coming down hard. It was such oppressive weather; as if god were just pleasing himself; pissing all over this poor shitty part of the city and nowhere else just because he’s god and he can be a prick like that.

The Boy from the County Hell excerpt

“I’m no closer to a tenner with dis fifty pence den I am witout it, but you, you’re fifty pence away from bein happier dan me so I tink it’s only fair, the money stick wit you”

The Boy from the County Hell Excerpt

Shane pulled the covers back over his head and squashed a handful against his tingling face, moaning away as he rolled back and forth, fighting the truth in his mind about his aching belly and explosive head; leaving the black stupor of sleep and waking to a despotic hangover.
